Two kids who live in a mixed religion Hindu-Muslim slum find out that their pet goat is destined to be sacrificed at the end of Ramadan. Their innocent attempt to save the goat results in violence between Hindus and Muslims with severe personal consequences.

About the Writer/Director

After cashing out of her advertising career where she successfully made commercials for several international brands, Sushmita Saha started her MFA in Film at Columbia University. Since then, her goal has been to sell thoughts and ideas instead of consumer products. She likes to bring forth her experiences of growing up in an emerging nation and her female perspective into her work.

About the Producer

Birgit Gernböck is a producer based in New York and Germany. Over the course of her studies at Columbia, Gernböck has produced over ten short films. Sundae, directed by Sonya Goddy, premiered at the NYFF in 2015 and screened at the Atlanta Film Festival and the Florida Film Festival. Gernböck was granted two Katharina Otto-Bernstein Film Fund Award for her thesis films in 2015, and Bakri received additional support from the German Film Fund.
