About the Writer/Director

Mounia Akl is a writer and director from Lebanon, with a background in architecture. Her previous work includes award-winning films Christine, EVA, and Stream, series BILY and Yahoo’s series Fasateen, also produced by Emmy winners Batoota Films. Submarine will also serve as a pitch for the feature film she is currently writing. Submarine was chosen as an official selection of the 69th Cannes Film Festival in the Cinéfondation category.

About the Writer

Clara Roquet is a Spanish writer and director. Her feature script, 10,000 Km, recently released in U.S. theaters, won a Jury award at SXSW, a Goya award and was nominated for the European Academy Awards, after a successful run at major international festivals. She recently directed the short film El Adiós, winner of a National Board of Review Student Grant, which premiered at Telluride and Toronto International Film Festival.

About the Producer

Cyril Aris is a Lebanese director and screenwriter, currently in post-production for The Swing, his first feature documentary, and in pre-production for The President’s Visit, which was awarded a Katharina Otto-Bernstein Film Fund Award. Previous credits include Siham, which won a Jury Award at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, and screened at major film festivals, including Raindance, as well as LBC’s TV-series BILY, and Yahoo’s web-series Fasateen.
