Living in hidden America, Paula, a Mexican farmworker, struggles to raise two children on her own. When a new caravan arrives on the cramped lot they live on, Paula allows herself, and her children, to imagine the home is theirs—a fantasy highlighting the fragility of her reality and her family.

About the Writer/Director

Barbara Cigarroa is a Mexican-American filmmaker with a passion for social-justice activism. She is pursuing her MFA in Screenwriting at Columbia University and is the 2016 recipient of the Alex Sichel Fellowship. Her feature was a second-round finalist to the 2018 Sundance Screenwriters Lab. And her short film Marta Rosa played at festivals around the world, including Palm Springs, where it won Best North American Short and Best Student Film Under 15 Minutes.

About the Producer

Starting in casting at Ireland’s National Theatre, Julie O’Leary has since become an IFP Marcie Bloom Fellow, read for the Hamptons Film Festival Screenwriting LAB, and acted as an Associate Producer for TIFF’s Rising Stars program. Her most recent short, I’m In Here, premiered at Slamdance 2017, and her work has screened at BFI, LA Film Festival, Palm Springs, Denver, New Hampshire, Uppsala, Tampere, Maryland, and IFF Boston, among others.
