About the Writer/Director
Jessica Baclesse grew up in the humid Midwestern plains of Missouri and moved to Portland, Oregon after college to live in a land of rainclouds and great coffee. She worked as an assistant editor on high profile commercials and the feature film Restless, directed by Gus Van Sant. She was awarded the 2012 Sloan Science and Film Award for Hildegard’s Heir, a feature screenplay about creativity and neuroscience. Roughstock is her thesis film and the culmination of many things that she loves – rural worlds, strong characters and the smell of hay.
About the Producer
Laura Teodosio is a New York-based producer who has worked on projects throughout the Americas. She currently is an Executive Producer on Love Is Strange (dir. Ira Sachs), which premiered at Sundance in 2014 and will open in theaters in August. Laura’s shorts have screened at festivals around the world including Who’s the Top (dir. Jennie Livingston), which premiered at the Berlinale, and Insomniacs, which sold to Logo TV. She produced work in the indigenous highlands around San Cristobal, Mexico and in Jacmel and Port au Prince, Haiti. She was the 2013 recipient of the Michael Hausman/Film Haus award for producing at Columbia. Roughstock is her thesis film.
