Po-Yu Chen is a Taiwanese film director based in Los Angeles. Before he came to New York in 2016 to pursue his MFA in film at Columbia University, he worked as a crew member on Martin Scorcese’s film, Silence. The production gave him great interest and ambition towards film directing. He has always been interested in the topics of solitude and the close relationships of people in the city. Besides narrative film, he has also been involved in documentary production. His latest film, The Day He Returns is currently in post-production. His other films include Something in the Water, winner of the 2018 Sloan Foundation production grant, Happy Birthday to Me which was screened at CineCina Film Festival 2019, Paint Again, Dinner, and Calling Game.
