During a prolonged drought in a secluded village, villagers ZHOU and HETUN wait for ZHANG to return from his search for water. However, neither the forecasted rain nor ZHANG arrive, and their hope dwindles. Until one day, at the village gate, they discover something unexpected.

About the Writer/Director
Lu Yuanjiong is a Writer-Director with an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University. He studied in the School of Intermedia Art at the China Academy of Art and in the Studio of Experimental Image hosted by Chinese artist Yang Fudong. After graduation in 2013, he focused on art and humanities-based documentary work, which led him to explore urban culture and the stories behind individuals. His short films have been selected for film festivals worldwide. He is currently working on his first feature film.
About the Producer
Emily Ruan is a film producer based in New York and Beijing. She recently graduated from Columbia University with an MFA degree in Creative Producing. She has solely produced over 10 short films, including both narratives and documentaries. During the pandemic, Emily went back to Beijing and worked at Fun Age Pictures in the core producing team.
