An ambitious Indian woman who desperately pursues the myth of the American Dream in order to escape her conservative life in India is met with a harsh reality in the US.

Born and raised in India, Sushma is a writer/director based in NYC. She was listed as one of “25 New Faces of Independent Film” by Filmmaker Magazine in 2021. Her films have screened at several international festivals including Venice, Palm Springs, Stockholm, among others. Her feature project, Salt, is a recipient of the SFFilm Westridge Grant and participated in Gotham Week 2021. Sushma's work has featured on NPR, BOMB Magazine, the Indian Express, and Canal Plus.
