Lame Asian-American middle schooler, Benjie, befriends a crew of gnarly skateboarders and radically transforms himself to impress the leader, who he becomes infatuated with. As he dives deeper into their world, his traditional immigrant parents clash with his newfound teenage angst.

Donovan is a Filipinx-American writer-producer from Chicago. Born in Saudi Arabia and raised in the Philippines, his works are often rooted in the lived-in experiences of marginalized peoples exploring racial inequity and sexual identity. While at Columbia, he received the Arthur Krim Memorial Award and multiple production grants. He’s currently finalizing his thesis films while developing his feature, Fat Lip.
